We are on a mission to find a lost sculpture, and we need your help!
My father, J.C. Brown, was a prolific bronze sculpture who lived in Lincoln City, Oregon in the 1990s. His subjects were mostly animals, large and small. He exhibited at Sculpture in the Park in Loveland, Colorado many times, and sold most of his work. I have collected many of his pieces, but one of my favorites is missing from my collection.
“Breaching to the Heavens” captures an Orca whale in mid flight above the waves. It’s about 18″ tall, with an oval wooden base. We believe this piece was sold at a gallery in Seattle or Portland in the mid-1990s. We have no further information. This sculpture is not just a testament to my father’s talent; it represents a deep love for the natural world and a commitment to capturing its majestic beauty.
We believe in the power of community and the incredible connections that art can forge. This is why we are turning to you for help. If you have any information about the whereabouts of this sculpture, or if you’ve seen a bronze Orca that might match its description, please reach out.
Any leads, no matter how small, could be a step towards finding a piece of our family history. Thank you for your support!
With hope and gratitude,
The Brown Family
